Most racist/badass dwarves ever

I have a decent, third-year fortress. As can be expected, I now have a healthy number of artifacts and engravings.

I recently examined these artifacts, and was pleased (and amused) by what I saw.

Apparently, there was a massive Elven civil war in my world's history. A bunch of engravings/images depict random elves slaughtering each other. A bunch more involve elves getting beaten up by goblins. As if that wasn't enough, there are one or two that portray my dwarves slaying elves that were kidnapped by gobbos.

I made a collage of all the engravings/images I could find.

Nice! My engravings only ever come out to be: this a picture of a dwarf and dwarves. The dwarf is surrounded by dwarves.

Always. I always get that one. Its annoying.

I always get cheese and death in my engravings. Anyone else recieve similar results?

No, its just that some people like to go in Adventure Mode to check out their fort's engravings. It was one of the main points of the early versions of the game. You go in Dwarf Fortress mode, which would always ultimately end in tragity, and then you explore the fort in Adventure mode. It was intended as a two-part game like that and reading the full engravings was one of the motivations to do so.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. Awesome idea.

Thanks for the tip on the engravings. I am really tired of the same three engravings over and over (though the one about some past dwarf stabbing a cyclops in the eye is pretty awesome...)

In the dark dwarves mod I have one who likes fighting, slaughter, and goblin bone IIRC

All it does is tell the full story and details available for artworks depicting history.

I wish I still had the fort or the save. It kinda got slaughtered in the first year due to a modded civ I made that invaded and quite literally ripped everyone's eyes and throats out.

Last time I breached the HFS there were a lot of engravings of demons doing 'depraved acts' on elves and dwarves. Two of my miners were disgusted by this, but I guess one of them was turned on.

Every time a dwarf gets a mood and makes some masterful, expensive, but otherwise fairly useless piece of clothing... I think of that episode of Married with Children where Al has a vision of God and becomes obsessed with making the perfect shoes, the "shoes of God".

You've got to be a dwarf with a pretty pathetic life if the highest glory you can possibly conceive of is making one really awesome but impractical piece of clothing.

Then again, the rest of them have to be pretty pathetic if they elevate the maker of an obscenely unwieldy pair of underpants to such a revered status that they get everything for free even when others have to earn a living wage.
