Also, by implementing a humongous amount of waterfalls in the middle of the DFdiscworld, you could still have the almighty awesome edge-waterfalls.

In the latest book, Unseen academicals:[spoiler]there are now orcs, and the kick major ass.

they learn incredibly fast, are incredibly smart, and can rip off a guys head with their bare hands.

not to mention being able to extimate the exact amount of force needed to:

a: mereley break the neck

b: actually sever it entireley (this is the hard bit)

also, they are modified humans, built as war machines by the evil emperor's Igor minions.

Even when Vimes gives in a little bit to the berserker rage of The Summoning Dark, he still retains sufficient control that he doesn't kill anyone.

And Vimes COULD be included. But we'd have to make it so that he ONLY ever imprisoned people, or killed maniacs in self defense. He couldn't be a warrior unit.

There are orcs now? The hell? And an Igor who's an EMPEROR?! o_O? Also, Wiki says that goblins bred them... which makes no real sense, since goblins, gnomes, and pictsies are all the same species really... and never once has there been evidence of them having the kind of alchemical prowess to make things like the orcs... of course, one of the big points of Diskworld is the whole making fun of preconceived notions of "races have defined skills and such" so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised when he throws out goblins/gnomes/pictsies who built an alchemical race. I wonder if vetinari knows the truth...

Orcs probably were added because of the new game, blood bowl, which is basically warhammer Orcs playing american football overenthusiastically. That, or perhaps TP decided to add it finally. I remember messing about with my older brothers blood bowl figurines when I was much younger. When I saw it for sale in a gamestop, I did a quadruple take.

Blood Bowl really isn't that great of a game, the best way to play is hot seat two-player.
The whole league thing doesn't appeal to me.

It does however, strictly follow the board game rules, you can even check out the dice rolls (it's a d6 for everything).

When the rest of the Watch get down there, one of them (i think it was Cheery) makes a surprised comment noting that while many have really impressive wounds, none are actually dead.

Remember; Vimes never kills people. No matter what he does not kill. He'll let people kill themselves through their own actions (such as Wolfgang biting the flare) but he never kills people. Ever. He's too afraid of the fact that if you start killing people for good reasons, it's a very small and easy step to killing people for bad reasons.


That's one of the things The Watching Dark does; it makes sure Vimes doesn't kill anyone.

Presumably, Vimes would be a Sheriff/Captain of the Guard. I mean, that's what he is. Just change Fortress Guard to City Watch and there you go.

Although you couldn't have Dwarven-style nobles in Ankh-Morpork, because there's no way in hell Vimes would ever enforce mandates.

Also: Awesome idea. Last time I re-read Thud!, every time they went into the dwarf mine I kept thinking, "Damn, I wish I could play this in DF."
