FAQ says it will have a MMO version and a offline version.
I am so happy now.
I want this done, NOW.

I may be wrong, but I don't think there's an offline version planned anymore. However, they do plan on selling the engine to 3rd paries, so someone else might make one.

Can somebody post some servers? I can't access their page with the list.
It keeps crshing when i try to start it up...

1) what you are trying to play is a combat prototype made to test how combat could work, it doesn't have landing on planets or anything, just a bunch of different-sized ships and a few asteroids. Think counter-strike with spaceships. It's not really representative of the game. You might already know that, just clearing it up.

2) ATI/amd cards can't play it anymore. If you have an Nvidia card and still want to give it a shot, there is a
.exe in your installation folder that will launch your own server. Load it up and connect to 127.0.0.1 (localhost)

Now about the actual game:
The main dev decided to further develop the engine ( I-Novae ) so he can license it to 3rd parties which will in turn generate funds to make Infinity a proper game.

In other words the actual game is on hold. Think 2014+
I'm confident it will be completed in some form *eventually*

The 2nd, (relatively new) dev's twitter: http://twitter.com/#!/inovae_keith
and blog: http://inovaekeith.blogspot.com/  (as you can see he's also working on the engine tools)

I think i remember this one game that the devs were making that planned to use the engine. now that it's out, it looks like it's a viable option for them now.

To be honest, the alpha combat prototype is very boring and incomplete, you're not missing anything.

It's not even an alpha combat prototype; it was just something he threw together to test his network code, using a few graphical resources he already had for the actual game.

Infinity: Battlescape by In-Novae Studios

An alpha that is war oriented is coming out in April. It might not have as much of the exploration and trade side to space faring as the fully developed promise, but they are attempting to release something now, which is cool.

https://inovaestudios.com/Battlescape

"Simulation & Training

Create truly immersive learning experiences leveraging GIS databases..."

Testing out space-economies in simulation, space capitalism and space socialism! A peaceful test-bed, that might actually lend to some useful knowledge, in terms of supply and demand. We may quickly learn "Infinity" has limits.

Goodies but oldies, they truly take years of refinment, just like DF. I necroed the Third Age mod from 2009, just in case it can get more fans, it's last update was this year.

The game is coming along pretty nicely, actually.

Huh! I ... don't think I recall seeing this. One hell of a necro and for a good game that might actually exist? Very interesting.

Well, the game that exists isn't the game that was initially hoped for.

It's an arena shooter in space, rather than a space MMO.

I think I get their approach, testing all the functionality of space craft and travel through the crucible of war!!! It'll really test their engine when ships are firing at eachother in orbit of a planet with hundreds of miles of space in between.

And also much more achievable than a full MMO.
