the most dwarven pelican the world has ever known.

if you ask me, pelicans should be able to do this in DF. no blood. no fighting before hand. just ambushing something and swallowing it whole.

Along with the bugged ambush behavior! :D

saw a movie of a cow eating a chick once, a feeling of betrayal... when an animal you have always considered 100% vegetarian enjoying freshlive meat.

Mega beasts should surely be able to eat whole bodies, if not live ones.
(not sure how sizes are determined, but a minimum size discrepancy between diner and dinner should be in the actionAllowed requirements)

Would you have to pull off a load of severs to eat a person bit by bit?

EDIT: But Pelicans are fish eaters! They don't eat BIRDS!

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Maybe that particular bird was a bit psycho. Of course though, we don't know what happened before the pigeon was in the pouch.

Anyways, yea, I'm confused too since pelicans are fish eaters.

You can see the pigeon trying to peck it's way out for the whole vid. How did that pelican not get injured?

I guess their skin is so elastic it did no harm. Fish probably move a lot too, so they had to have an efficient body.

Anyway, there's a Powergoal where you are swallowed alive by a dragon and you survive because your magic ring protects you from acids. Being able to move on a creature body and inventary would be nice.

Fighting collossi would feel kinda like Shadow of the Colossus or God of War.

birds are just fish with feathers...must have some major lubrication going on that beastie: fish are pretty slick of themselves.

Not surprised it went down though, many fish it feeds on normally have nasty spines and such.

Actually, ordinary Adventurer characters can do the same stunt.  Or at least they could in the past -- in the current version I can't find any vermin as an adventurer.

But back in the 2-D days, I remember amusing myself picking up vermin birds and eating them.  And it was much easier than for the pelican.  If you actually watch the video, you may notice that while the pigeon was gulped in a split second, that was still only the beginning of a long fight.  Gulped vermin in DF have no appeals.
