Possesing dwarves
« on: August 01, 2009, 04:48:25 am »

An idea I had kicking around in my head for a little while. Sorry if this is a repost;

During dwarf fortress mode, what if you could take control of one of the dwarves during a siege or, hell, any time? It would be controlled a-la Adventure mode. Imagine taking control of your champion hammerdwarf as a goblin ambush springs from the trees, fighting side by side with your military.

Any thoughts?

This was discussed the other night in the podcast, which should be up in a few days.

More or less, Toady says he's against it.

I'd rather be able to possess them into moods to make custom gear with exactly the materials and decorations I want.  Are crafting skills for adventurers still on the way?  I'd love to run a hermit in adventure mode, get a little burrow up in the mountains, grow a few plump helmets and tower caps, then decorate the place and train up my leatherworking and bowyer skills so I could hunt mountain goats.
