Ice flows in general....  Ice should form on the surface first... No more getting frozen as soon as the sun goes down.

Thin ice as well

Trenches- bottomless pits under ocean tiles that can spawn fun creatures.
Underwater magma features- Essentially allow for magma pipes to appear under ocean tiles.
Crab People- Amphibious creatures with claw attacks

Aquatic Invasion, though army arc progress would help this, you are set your fort up on a beach, a bunch of gobbos assault your fort by sending in rowboats and large ships for fire support, capture a kraken and send it against the ships, that stuff.
If you win, you get some free row boats, and if you get your dwarves in a rowboat and get them to a support ship, and if you beat the crew, you get a free fishing vessel or naval vessel

I always thought a crater-shaped lake about the same dimensions as a Underground pool or Bottomless pit would be nice.

Just like an underground pool that opens at the surface. Maybe 1 or 2 z-levels deep with surface freshwater critters like carp and 'gators. Would be like a sinkhole-type lake.

OHYES I want to see water-based megabeasts.

Add in the fact that the ocean has all the biggest creatures in real life, and island/seaside based forts are in for a load of Fun!

Updated the main post. Added trenches and crab people. I decided that trenches could simply act as HUGE magma pipes, removing the need for more magma pipes. (may add pipes later, based on discussion)

Water saturation in soil layers, after a certain point the water will begin to seep into dug out areas, this can be both usefull (auto-replenishing wells) and harmfull (fort flooding)

Water-seepage would be most common in more permeable soil after heavy rains/around a body of water.

I almost feel like aquifers should have ratings, from slow seepage to what we see now...

No, I was thinking of a different kind of mobile dynamic aquifer.  After rain the water would seep into the ground and do its thing, be it drowning dwarves or running off into the nearest body of water.

I kind of rushed that last post, what I meant to suggest was a runoff system.

For underwater plants you could have something similar to rice paddies. You need to slightly flood a farm plot to 1/7 or 2/7 for the option to grow them.

(Haven't posted in a while)

Weather Features

Acid Rain: Gradually damages everything that's standing outside. Wounds up to (but not past) 'yellow' status

Fire Rain: Get those dwarfs underground! Fireballs randomly fall one by one from the sky, leaving short-lived fires.

Hmm. I think not posting has made you a bit rusty. both of those ideas suck in my opinion. Fire rain? What the hell? Acid rain has been unknown on earth since pre-history, and only now are we screwing up the planet enough to get it back.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
