Origins of the name 'Urist' 's popularity.
« on: July 31, 2009, 10:33:29 am »

I was wondering if anyone on this forum was around to see how the name Urist became such a popular name for the stereptypical dwarf.

I see the name everywhere from urist mcpenis to urist mcbadass.

Where did it come from?

It's just one of the default dwarf names that got picked up on.

There was also a very popular story thread about an insane homicidal dwarf called Urist which I think helped.

Yikes, the Orcs have a nasty language.  Traditional foreplay would be right out for them; how would they ever "say my name" for one another?  No wonder Ocrs are always so bloodthirsty and violent, they're getting sub-par action.

But really he's just a softie inside. They all are really. When megabeasts come to your fort you never welcome them inside and give them a hug, do you. You heartless bastards...

However you like, though I favour YOUR-ist.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

I always think of it as uhr-ist, which sounds bad to me so I avoid using it to refer to my dwarves.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.
