Difference in magma pipes?
« on: July 30, 2009, 08:09:55 pm »

Is there anyway to get the "Magma rivers"(one's in boat murdered) rather than the Downwards Tube kind?

Nope!

Boatmurdered was the old 2D version.

Since a magma pipe refills, it's possible to make something like - but the "flow" would be slow, and you have to do some fancy work to get it to flow off the edge of the map (rather than fill the world below that level with magma, which some might consider too much "fun" all at once.)

Since magma doesn't "cool" (without help), most players are happy with constructed channels that bring the magma to where they want it, and let it dead-end there, and not worry about a true flowing "river".

tbh you dont want a true flowing river anyway as the burden on the processor is much higher with moving liquids then with stationary ones.

I didn't think you could get magma off the edge of the map at all.

I am trying to make chickens lay bees as eggs. So far it only produces a single "Tame Small Creature" when a hen lays bees.
Honestly at the time, I didn't see what could go wrong with crowding 80 military Dwarves into a small room with a necromancer for the purpose of making bacon.

The only way I have found is to dump it down a natural hole like you find at the bottom of chasms, bottomless pits, underground river drains, and
