Dorfs won't get out of bed.
« on: July 30, 2009, 02:24:40 pm »

I have 2 elite wrestlers lying in bed on top of each other for the last two seasons. They have been there since they took out a small ambush of 6 gobbos. They have no wounds whatsoever, but still won't move from bed. They are now both starving, thirsty and exhausted.

The obvious reason came to mind but then I noticed they are both female, so unles the Great ToadyOne coded in lesbian relationships, I think there is something wrong. The other male soldiers are always hanging around, so they are probably mud wrestling.

I have even tried to dismiss them from the military but it won't let me.

Any suggestions?

On the wounds screen, use + to scroll down the list, there might be a broken spine or something.

Besides that, check their inventory for clothes, dwarves(And everything else in DF) procreate with spores, no physical contact is needed.

What kind of statues are your masons making, that you think they have "maximum exposure"?

Forbid the bed they're on. There is sometimes an issue if a wounded dwarf passes out on a bed without actually being carried there.

If the bed is forbidden dwarves will move them to another bed.

I had something just like this in my fort last night, only it was a Fortress Guard and a Royal Guard stuck in my barracks wrestling with each other (purple background) but without the "Sparring in Barracks" task active. I ended up turning off the barracks and using Dwarf Companion to physically separate them twice (the first time they both started "Sparring in Barracks" in the then-disabled barracks and got stuck again, then the second time they stopped and walked away to get some food and drinks).

Presumably, they had started wrestling with each other and got interrupted by something but forgot to let go.

You might check that their bed isn't accidentally marked as barracks. I did that once with one of my 1x4 quarters and was rather surprised to see sparring going on inside.

It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

Incase you don't want to use a mod you could always try restationing them on duty and then... well stationing them somewere

Trouble is, you can't station fortress/royal guards.

Annoyingly, this has happened YET AGAIN in my same fortress (though with 2 different fortress guards), and this time it took quite a bit of fiddling to snap them out of their trances.

there is an easier remedy for all the problems noted in this topic.... real easy.

usually it starts with the pull of a lever, involves the screaming and burning of the dwarves in magma, and then the pulling of a lever.

in case you didnt figure it out, im talking about flooding the section with magma... works quite well. once they melt away they arent stuck in the same spot or sparring when they shouldnt be.... and unless youve gotten them so they are invincible it should fix everything.... least it does for me..... :D

Sure, that works, but then they die, which is Fun with dwarves that have legendary social skills and are friends with everyone.

Flooding the place with just enough water to make them panic, but not enough to drown them might be better, they will panic and get out.

a small cavein is probably the best way to separate them... as long as there is a natural wall below that bed

Sorry for the thread necro, but finally solved the problem. Whatever I did had no effect on the two wrestlers, and there was also a baby of one of them just next to their bed.

Anyways, had to resort to dfcompanion to seperate them both. All I did was hurt one of them then heal them again. They both got back to buisness as usual as if nothing ever happened. Just hope these two lesbos decide to get a private room next time and not go at it in the middle of my barracks.
