I should state that Trees and other planets don't absorb as much polution as most people think.

Which kinda makes Captain Planet sorta hard to watch.

You watched Captain Planet, and what bothers you was errors about amounts of pollutants absorbed by trees?

That and their episode on Overpopulation.

Rats: "We have overpopulated beyond our means"
Me: "So, your stuck on a TINY Island... and you never thought of just moving anywhere else?"
Rats: "Intruders! Everyone use your Rayguns!"
ME: "Errrr"

Or how about the one encouraging people to throw out their air-conditioners?

A while back I caught an all-weekend marathon of Captain Planet, with a sound-alike guy doing bumper commercials spoofing An Inconvenient Truth.  I forgot just how hilariously retarded that show was.

aren't the icecaps floating?

doesn't that mean that melting them will not change the water level at all?

It unfortunately was being drowned out by all the stupidity of that episode...

For example Captain Planet is powered by the Sun... The UV rays counted as polution
-In another episode, Poisonous Volcanic Ash was harmless but burning Garbage hurt the captain.

Duke Nukem stole two factories, transported them north and set them to make and dismantle air conditioners and refridgerators... Despite the fact that it would have been a LOT easier just to buy a TON of CFCs on bulk and release it all at once.

Also it was the FIRST episode where Captain planet lost the ability to remove damage from polution. Honestly Captain, remember when you used to be helpful?

Also it continues the series long trend of the characters FORGETTING WHAT THEIR POWERS DO! In this episode Gi forgets her power affects Ice until AFTER she loses her Ring (the Rings used to require Greese to remove... but Gi's just slipped off)

Tons of other stuff... Lets just say that relative to everything else, not using an Airconditioner because it will polute a little makes total sense.

1) The floating icecaps are taller than the ocean around them.  A lot taller.
2) The icecap usually being discussed is the land-bound one on Greenland.
3) Antarctica is fucking huge.

But hey, I'm down for a poorly-acted Road Warrior with jetskis and mutants.

Actually if the world becomes hot enough to melt the Ice in Antarctica... lets just say Flooding would be the least of our concerns.

Though World Flooding is exagerated to no end. Which is honestly why I have a huge problem with  certain Environmentalists... They will just say anything to make people conform to their views.

Antarctica is actually apparently becoming colder and the ice and snowfall in the interior of the continent is getting thicker and more frequent. Some folks theorize that Antarctica regularly sheds glacial ice on its coasts due to the dome-shape of the continent and katabalic winds and other forces that cause it to shed and replenish in a cycle.

Rising sea levels will flood Venice, which those bastards totally deserve for deforesting the entire Croatian coast in the Middle Ages. So yeah, I approve of the global warming.

Even if the sea level doesn't rise significantly the cold water running off from melting ice caps will hopelessly mess up ocean currents, causing a lot of places (I declare an interest here: Britain is one of those places) to have their climate drastically changed, and made a lot colder.
