Side-note: There's some kind of thematic buildup going on (gaining strength) recently. Davesprite made me think of it, because way back when his identity crisis was the point, how he's not the "real" Dave anymore.

Fast Forward to Dirk's Heart powers, part of which involved him (at least seeming to) have conscious awareness or control of his alternate incarnations, like his dreamself and brain ghost!Dirk. When Dave and Dirk finally started hashing out their shit, Dirk's commentary to Dave pretty much stated that there IS no "real" Dave, with all the different versions being important and relevant somehow.

Now, Davepetasprite seems to have a direct awareness of all the other Daves (and presumably Nepetas), along with Jasprosesprite. So... the sprites are something like Dirk's power, and all of them imply that no one is irrelevant.

I'm thinking it's an allegory for getting bogged down in life choices and regrets, where one choice a person made doesn't turn out like they'd hoped and regret ensues. The message is don't fret over past mistakes, use them to learn and move on.

For the story... I'm kinda leaning towards the theory that the trolls, kids, and cherubs are all inside some kind of mega-session tailored specifically to each one of them. I wouldn't bet money on it though. Beyond that I don't know what to say, but I wanted to point it out.

I don't know why Davepetasprite and Jasprosesprite feel alternate versions of their constituent selves.  It reminds me of alpha Rose merging with doomed!Rose from Davesprite's timeline, though.

Kinda neat that Nepeta (green) and Dave(red, formerly) merged while Jade (green) and alt-Calliope (red) are hanging out.  I seriously doubt that means anything, but the way the narratives are woven I think it's intentional.

Also:

Jasprosesprite^2 is female, because Rosesprite was single-prototyped while Jaspersprite was double-prototyped, making Rosesprite the dominant half. The same should go for Davepetasprite^2 since Nepetasprite was single-prototyped while Davesprite was double-prototyped.

If Rosesprite was the dominant half, then her personality would not be dominated by the cat half, which it clearly was. It's pretty clear that if there was a dominant half there, it was Jaspersprite's one.

Consequently that makes Davesprite the dominant half of Davepetasprite^2.

The interesting part about Davepeta to me is that Davepeta is an amalgamation between a Knight of Time and a Mage of Heart. In himself, he represents the two sides of the Strider-bro relationship. Only with more cats.

Anyway Davepeta has no idea yet so imma just use plural pronouns to denote ambiguity.  Which... wow I just realized how well that works here.  What a wonderful comic.
