Could Terezi be planning to undo Vriska's death??  She certainly regrets it.  That would explain why we've been switching to Vriska's ghost recently, too.

That would have really big consequences, though. Like a mile-wide hole in the middle of the ocean big.

Also it would retcon away the whole "be in a dreamland, undergo personality development" thing Vriska did, so I'm sure it's going to be something else.

That's true... It would undo entire arcs of the story, even the discovery of the weapon itself.  Who knows how it would effect Meenah, Hussie, and Tavros particularly.  It'd be a truly absurd amount of retcon.

On the other hand this retcon stuff already is already shooting chaos butterflies everywhere...

Also, Terezi herself said that the changes are not going to have big consequences.

"TEREZI: 3V3RY CH4NG3 1 4M T3LL1NG YOU TO M4K3 W1LL H4V3 1NCR3D1BLY SUBTL3 CONS3QU3NC3S
TEREZI: HOW3V3R, TH3Y W1LL B3 4BSOLUT3LY 3SS3NT14L FOR CR34T1NG 4 MOR3 F4VOR4BL3 OUTCOM3
TEREZI: BUT ONLY 1F YOU FOLLOW MY 1NSTRUCT1ONS TO TH3 L3TT3R, NO QU3ST1ONS 4SK3D! "

Keeping Vriska alive is as un-subtle of consequence as one can get, short of retconning away the events of Cascade or something even more stupid than that.

John already completely prevented Aranea from getting the ring and thus prevented all of A6I2 and A6I3 from happening, so I don't think "incredibly subtle" means that.

It might mean that no one would suspect John of doing anything on the list.

The actions were fairly subtle, even if the most likely results aren't.

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

What if Terezi is making John go to these moments so she ends up hating him instead of Gamzee? Like she smelled him in FR4M3D when he stole the witness(which I would imagine pissed her off a bit). Then he comes and tries to ruin her relationship with Karkat. So what if she thinks her biggest mistake was being in hate with Gamzee, so she is subtly trying to prevent that by making John go back and piss her off at these moments?
So, what would be the name for John-Terezi blackrom ship anyone?

"Don't need" doesn't necessarily mean "shouldn't be with".

I have doubts that  "him" is really Karkat.
If only because... what impact would that have? The message already could be interpreted to mean that John is "him". And telling someone they don't need a total stranger makes far more sense than trying to convince them to drop a trusted friend.
