Huh I just re-read http://www.mspaintadventures.com/?s=6&p=008310
Rose considers working on her quest to "play the rain" and suggests it would involve her violin.  So each player's personal quest might involve music, and/or fixing a problem their denizen caused.
I guess Dave's and Jade's quests are mysteries for now.  Maybe Dave's quest was to "Play the stock market" (which did involve playing his timetables).  I don't see how to connect Jade's guitar-synthesizer thing with the frog breeding though.
Guitar solo over a volcano to make it erupt, bringing the frog with it? Or maybe - erupting ALL of the volcanoes?

Jade had to breed frogs. One of the machines analyzed a frog's croak. Karkat/Kanaya said something along the lines of breeding a frog with a perfectly melodious croak.
Which I guess in music terms is to tune a universe, until you find the right tune to one day be played.

I was under the impression it would involve literally playing the plane as an instrument, rather than just involiving it. So John's was always obvious, Rose's would be using some method to play the waterfalls like strings, and Dave's using the entire interconnected series of gears as a turntable, probably involving the beat mesa in some way because that would be fucking rad.
Jade's I guess doesn't fit because frogs ruin everything.

But can't you play the melody by utilizing frogs (and their croaking) themselves?

Dave looks like Crispin Glover in that picture.

...That's all I made this reply to say.

I got the two descriptions from the pillar but couldn't reproduce the codpiece one, even using tab.
