...Doesn't look like Caliborn took that beating very well. I really hope we're about to see some unbelievably shitty, passive-aggressive flash animations.

Think of it like Sim City, except with rival mayors that seek to destroy your citizens by arming legions of homeless people and sending them to attack you.

Quote from: John in the latest update
what the fuck happened here?

I wish I knew, I wish I knew.

Also, Aranea, at least, receives justice. So now we've only got LE and the Condesce as antagonists. And the Omnipuppies, assuming they're ever going to leave Jade's corpse. At least the character trimming works both ways.

I love it. I read the update, saw John appearing in the middle of all that chaos, and said to myself "The only text in this update (SNAP doesn't count) is going to be John saying. "What the fuck happened here?""

Lo and behold, to the word.

Also, I totally forgot about the ring of life. I can't remember, was that thing a one-shot deal, because if not, all our currently ghost-tier protagonists have another out. Notice Aranea's body not snapping into nonexistence, or even death, as soon as the ring was removed. The Condesce apparently had to perform the snapping manually. So, if it's reusable...

Something tells me I'm stating the obvious thing that everyone is aware of, but anyway:

Remember Hussie's news post that ended the Gigapause?
new news post
Quote
We are slowly building to a particular moment I foresee on the horizon. It's not just characterized by the end of the story, though that should be a factor. It's more than that. Things I have planned, and some other things we'll say may be fortuitously aligned. Invisible pieces of a heinous machine all snapping together, mechanically congealing with a grim sense of purpose. I'm tentatively branding to this moment as The Rapture, and it will be more than you can bear. More than anyone can. And everyone won't.

The "Game Over" flash is the Rapture Hussie talked about back in late September. If that news post is to be believed, the rapid extermination of most surviving kids and trolls is going to play a major role in the rest of the storyline.

If that is the case, all those deaths are permanent and won't be reverted.

What was that caused by again? I forget.

EDIT: Oh wait, I think I remember. Cherub magic dust jamming up the insides of the universe right?

It being alpha timeline doesn't change the fact that John can and has already shown how much his retcon powers shit all over the established time travel mechanics.

He even can "windy thing" the glitches away!

To sum up what I think would be most people's feelings on this:

pls no

Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

The deaths don't need to be permanent to play an important role.

I think John popping in retconned it into the alpha timeline, guys.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

He could always Retcon his Retcon.
Lord English himself could always appear and use his abilities as a Lord of Time, to ensure everything goes as  he desires.

The Lord of Time does not simply uses his abilities.

Really, his title would be more correct if it was changed to the Lord of Inevitability.

Time == Inevitability.
Wind == Change

Anyone knows more comparisons of this kind?

Wind is actually freedom, space is change. Apparently you need to do some reading on Classpect theories~

I don't see how Space == Change. Because everything Jade did, even though it was in great power and seemingly in full freedom, was actually all in naught, all played in the Lord of Time's favor...

it's more like Space == Super powers at the price of being just a cog in the greater scheme of things. A Deux Ex Machina, doomed to serve the Author, unknowing of it's place.

Really, the Homestuck makes much more sense if you look at it not in the sense of physical world, but more like metaphysical, where concepts matter more than any visibly apparent forces.
