This thread is so utterly massive due to how early in the comic it started. The the second post after the original post basically states the thread was started before Jade was properly introduced.
The thread started on July 30th, 2009. That's four years and nine months ago. This thread has had almost 50,000 replies, out of a total of 4,540,743 total forum posts since this thread was started. For as long as this thread has been around, it's been responsible for slightly over 1% of the total forum posts.

When the thread was started, this was the update of the day, the 417th post of homestuck out of the 6850 currently put up, or 6% of the current way through the comic.

I believe the thread with the highest post ratio for its lifetime is the rise of the magic girls V2 thread. It was started on August 18 2013 (under nine months ago), and has a total of 66520 posts of 403751 since it was created (assuming half the posts in august were made after it was started, likely less than that), meaning that it has been responsible for approximately 16.5% of the total posts in the forum (or, if you like fractions, approximately 1/6).

I also foolishly thought that Hussie would end Homestuck in 2011 or 2012 at the latest for the 2nd or 3rd anniversary, respectively.

Does anyone even know what it is about? Quickly looking at it, it seems to be roleplay.

Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Wasn't there a roleplay thread a couple years ago that had like 50% of the forum's posts until it got locked? Land of the moving fortress or something?

EDIT: Land of Lost Dimensions, little over 30k posts in about 6 months. So pretty good, but I not quite as much as that.

I think that was inspired by a minimalist RTD about selling kitchens, actually.

Let's keep this thread alive.

Paradox Space Update.

The schedule seems to be one page every weekday and nothing on weekends.

I'm not sure what to think of Paradox Space. The Gamzee one was cool and the current one is decent, but the one in between was sort of pathetic. Time will tell of how good the future comicy things will be.

Curious, anyone go back to the beginnings of the thread, just to see how Homestuck was viewed back when it was relatively new?

Well...

I enjoy this comic as well.

I like Homestuck better than Problem Sleuth, since Homestuck is actually staying focused on its 'gameplay' mechanics, as opposed to Problem Sleuth, which quickly degenerated into batshitinsaneland and JRPG parody. For six months. That was a little tiresome.

Also, [S] Strife! pages.
