Midnight crew jack from the trolls session died when he destroyed everything and shot Snowman didn't he?
Oh wait, there was that idiocy where he was saved by Hussie and made into a robot... Did he end up dying there to Lord English? Did we actually see that happen?

I think the "no timelines where Gamzee died" thing was a way to say that there will be no alternate Gamzees popping up anywhere.
None of them died, so there are no ghosts.

This was the alternate timeline where Vriska challenged Jack to a duel. While it's technically possible that Gamzee's dreamself isn't dead, since we've never seen the corpse to my knowledge, it's unlikely. And if said dreamself were alive, Gamzee's meatself was still on the meteor when it blew. The only question is whether or not that actually managed to kill him.

Jade's grandpa was the first character in Homestuck to be confirmed dead. (If you don't count the imps.)

Caliborn died if you count the self-sacrifice to ascend to god-tier.

Mayor has never died, came extremely close at the end of cascade.

Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.
