Every dwarf, every dwarven man, women, and child, that comes to our forts will die there; it's truly sad when you think about it. And we ask our selves, why? Why do we push forward, knowing this fate, that we are destined for failure? Because, this game grasps the concept of mortality. Some games you can never lose, but we all stop eventually, causing a 'death' to those game's 'worlds'. Dwarf Fortress gives us a definite end, knowing that we will leave that world eventually, and move on to more.

Here's betting? It's pretty much outright confirmed.

This makes Di-- the Prince of Heart, of course.

look guys I called it

okay so not related to the update but I was reading the pages around the introductions of various characters and now I want to know how the hell I did that

I mean, it was obvious that he was prince of heart when his description appeared, but apparently that first post was before there was a description? ._.

Speculative Question: What would happen if someone self-prototyped before entering?

You'd get a dead session because I'm pretty sure that's Sburb's way of saying "fuck you".

Everything would be prototyped with themselves, and likely inherit personality characteristics and knowledge and suchlike. It could either create an easy mode where everything allied with you, or a hard mode where they know all your weaknesses and can predict your strategies perfectly in addition to their other powers. They may or may not inherit your class and aspect powers. Knowing SBURB, easy mode is out of the question.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

I think it would depend on whether you were supposed to or not.

But you'd have enemies and royalty prototyped like you, so that'd be a barrel of shit.

Okay, Bauglir said it better.

Only if you were prototyped first.

Ugh. I thought you meant an update other than the one that's been talked about.

THIS IS WHY YOU SAY UPDATE, PEOPLE!
