Homestuck is the second best thing in the universe (After Dwarf Fotress).

The Homestuck fandom being kind of obsessive and weird really freaks me out.
Especially since it reflects poorly on me since I like Homestuck.  :-\

Getting on tumblr. Reading some stuff about what people think about the Homestuck fandom. Observing the Homestuck fandom. Being freaked out by the Homestuck fandom.

The thing to remember is that the Homestuck fandom is different than the Homestuck fanbase. The fact is Homestuck was never meant to be taken seriously. The whole thing is essentially a huge running joke. The fandom misses that fact and takes seriously something deliberately not made to be taken at face value. It's like watching a truly terrible movie. Some people may watch it with that fact in mind, and get enjoyment out of laughing at it, which in the case of Homestuck is how it is meant to be viewed, but there's always that segment of people who actually think it's a good movie.

That's also looking at it wrong. Don't take it like a complete joke and don't take it completely seriously. That goes for any media, really.

True enough. The point is, there's a difference between people who take it at face value and people who get the meta behind it.

You have 3 problems with that observation.
1. Tumblr
2. Fandumb vs Fanbase
3. Poe's Law

In order of priority. Anything tumblr related is going to be shitty, full stop. Then anybody that claims to be a part of the fandom of homestuck is dumb and needs to be shot. Then everything else claiming it's good is satire/irony. Homestuck was never good. Just like SBaHJ.

Do you think everyone else in the comic will find out what she said through the same method?

1. Kinda true? I don't know.
2. Yes. That's part of what I was saying.
3. Saying Homestuck was never good is pretty unfair. Lots of parts of it I honest to god enjoyed, and not in an ironic way.

Whoever wrote SCP 523 has been reading too much Problem Sleuth.

Here's a couple relevant quotes from the person who made it:
Quote from: Achalk
Ha ha!
I had recently discovered MSPA when I wrote this one, so although the reference was not concious, I'm not going to deny that it might exist.
Good catch. I suppose this would be the type of thing to turn into lipstick when you need a chainsaw.
Quote from: Achalk
Oh my bad.
The instance in which the pistol turns into a ring of keys is in fact a direct reference to MSPA. I'd forgotten about that.
