Kanaya can go out into the sun because of reasons.
Even though the only difference is her blood color.
And I guess she can stand the sun and she is a Rainbow-drinker.
If someone was that drastically different from everyone else wouldn't their genetics be incompatible? Or am I understanding science wrong?

She's immortal. He's blind.

Also, Terezi went out in the sun; she was only blinded. Kanaya enjoyed the sun.
Karkat was bitching about going inside because of the Green Sun when they first met Rose/Dave.

Her caste mostly spends most of their time underground, IIRC.

AKA fuck if I know.

Oh hey, you know what sounds like fun? Let's try and make sense of Homestuck! Yea, that will work!
And then can beat our selves over the heads with lampshades!

No way, over explaining things away is a specialty of mine.

Clearly, the Alternian sun emits more solar radiation that either Sol or The Green Sun, which is why it immediately blinded Terezi and is dangerous for trolls in general.

Different troll castes have been shown with clearly different abilities, and it isn't out of the question to assume the jade blood caste has natural resistance to Ultra violet rays or whatever else the local star puts out.

Next.

Why would a red sun give off more ultraviolet than a green one? O_o

...

???
The green sun has the mass of two universes. It most likely puts out more radiation a second than the Alternian sun would in its lifetime.

They were just a lot further away from it.

I'll admit, I'm talking out of my ass here, BUT. The green sun doesn't necessarily put out an amount of radiation proportionally larger than Alternia's. And besides, it has the mass of two universe without collapsing into the omniverse's most impressive black hole on record. I'm fairly certain that it's cheating.

Why would a red sun give off more ultraviolet than a green one? O_o

UHHHHHHHHHH LOOK, A DISTRACTION!

But the Green Sun is a pseudo-supernatural construct in a region of Paradox Space that doesn't give a shit about physics.
So it's quite possible that it puts out little to no radiaton at all.

You are one of the few of your kind who can withstand the BLISTERING ALTERNIAN SUN, and perhaps the only who enjoys the feel of its rays. As such, you are one of the few of your kind who has taken a shining to LANDSCAPING. You have cultivated a lush oasis around your hive, and in particular, you have honed your craft through the art of TOPIARY, sculpting your trees to match the PUFFY ORACLES from your dreams. You have embraced the tool of this trade, which conveniently is the weapon of choice for those who would hunt the HEINOUS BROODS OF THE UNDEAD which crawl from the sand at sunrise to feast on the light and the living.

It would be convenient if you actually hunted them, but it is of course far too dangerous, every bit as suicidal as attempting to poach the terrible MUSCLEBEASTS who roam at night.

This says most trolls can't withstand their sun, and that it's very hot, but not necessarily that it's the heat itself that kills trolls.  It might just be the incredible brightness they can't withstand (like Terezi, of course).  It could also be dangerously hot, but survivable for periods of time or under the right conditions.  Terezi had the shade of her forest for her single daylight trip.  Kanaya probably engineered her clothes for daywalking.

It's also dangerous because of all the undead, so there are multiple reasons for trolls to avoid the daylight (and perhaps treat it as deadlier than it is).

Is it the arrow at the start that moves cakes? What the fuck even happened to that arrow? Where did it come from? Where did it go?
Every other fourth wall breaking element has been dragged kicking and screaming back into canon.

This remains my single biggest nitpick with Homestuck.  If this was any other story I'd have written it off as a simple mistake, but with all the insane callbacks we've seen, I'm honestly expecting some sort of snarky explanation.
(John's sylladex items blink red and green when selected... red and green...)

Yeah, basically everything about Trolls is wonky, which I blame on Hussie making up worldbuilding as he went along. Even after he went along in some cases, like Troll romancing, the Troll race being in a perpetual war against space or psychic clounn voodoo.

While my main beef is paradox cloning, as I have mentioned like 20 times already and will not further elaborate on, I also don't quite understand how dream selves are supposed to work: they are generated... how exactly? They were not created during ectobiology, the lab was destroyed shortly afterwards and to the Caraps the sleeping kids are mystic, timeless figures.

OK, after their...birth... they sleep in these towers. Their wakeselfs go about their days, go to sleep, their consciousness is transported into their second, also sleeping body and there they tend to have weird dreams. Makes one wonder what our 12 trolls needed sopor for, but PSYCHIC POWERS ARE MAGIC so ok.
The dreamself sleeps in a special room. This room shapes according to their subconsciousness, up to little dolls appearing out of thin air and themself going blind. This might explain where they come from: Their dream bodies are their selfimages projected into a place between reality and dream! Except they are also real bodies mostly identical to their waking ones, this doesn't explain where the rooms come from/how they work and how they are connected to a players (sub)consciousness. Must be the psychedelic paper hangings.

If the dreamself wakes up- which seems to have some sort of spiritual implications, but that may just be carapacian eschatology- they can move around on Derse/Prospit. Now people tend to go crazy, get brain damage and die of heart diseases when they can't sleep and dream correctly, but ok, the kids are barely human after all.
If the dreamself dies, its soul is transported to the Outer Ring, into the dream bubbles-in the flesh, into which a sleeping player may slip. It seems that accomodating to that transition is not pleasant(Jade: Enter, Karkat's first nap). And it may not be what actually happens since:
-Jade's dreamself(from the same timeline!) was dead for a long time and had its own memories and experiences
-Dreamprojections(for lack of a better term), when woken up, vanish instead of... falling asleep or somehing
-over half the inhabitants of the 'bubbles would have to be bodily asleep at any point in time since their dream/wakeselves are also there.
New(for me, eribody else probably had this figured out years ago) theory: The dreamself, originally a husk to host the players dreamconsciousness, develops a sort of imprint of the player which allows it to function on its own when the connection is severed, i. e. it dies. The player on the other hand, when trying to sleep, has his consciousness transported to a dead body, *dies*, is transported to the bubbles and is pulled back when his body awakes, which in turn may be triggered by suffering dream trauma. (fun fact: Traum means Dream in german) If the Horrorterrors can pull off something like this, which is not only a new mechanic but one that contradicts established... ok, entirely beyond human understanding, I get it.

Then there are oddities like Jade's dreambot and the godtier merge.

Also dreamselves can fly. Explain that one, Hussites.

I always assumed dream selves were just game constants, created with no real history, like the rest of everything...

You know that whole sequence with Tavros failing to kill Vriska and she writes in her blood and stuff?
Why does her dream self bleed? Aren't dream selves not affected by the "real" bodies condition?
Unless it was because she was dieing on a quest bed... But that also doesn't make much sense.

This was addressed in the case of Tavros's legs versus Terezi's blindness.  Terezi is supposed to be blind, or she wants to be blind, so her dreamself is blind.  Tavros really didn't want to be crippled, so his dreamself wasn't.

So with Vriska it was probably a combination of being partly conscious, repressed self loathing, and dramatic effect.
