I think Meenah is being sincere here. John already said he didn't have the ring. And it's such an obvious plot element I mean come on. The tough girl who spent most of her life living alone on the moon surrounded by treasure and was always pretty mean and often viciously cruel is happy to have friends? OH MAN WHOEVER COULD HAVE GUESSED. Having it the other way around would actually be a pretty surprising twist. Friendship is fake, like magic is. This character is just inherently evil and always will be. I don't think that would really mesh with Homestuck's general message.
