GlyphGryph is thinking of English Billiards specifically. Separated by a common language and all that.

French billiards doesn't have pockets either. English billiards has two cue balls.

If it involves sinking, it's pool. There are several variants of pool.

Billiards table:

The whole plot in the movie Music Man makes no sense if billiards and pool are the same thing, since he's campaigning against a pool table being added to the billiards hall.

Note that pool WAS originally considered yet another variant of billiards and is still sometimes called "pocket billiards". But the most you can say is that pool is sometimes considered a type of billiards, but billiards is not the same as pool.

Glyph, in American English, "Billiards" refers to all sports played with a cue. That's what my "separated by a common language" thing was about.

So, I had a dream involving various Homestuck characters, and in said dream, I may or may not have tried to flirt with Aranea......

Well, if you're attracted to her, she already knows, so why not go for broke?

Okay, thanks Glyph. I thought I remembered that billiards involved screwing over the other player rather than pocketing any balls.

So, does this mean that the destruction challenge is meant to be undertaken by two players? One to work on the spotted planets and one on the striped. And Caliborn fucked it up by killing Calliope. Though there's the whole predestiny thing, so maybe not.

Well, if you're stuck with one of the ancestor trolls, Aranea is probably the one that'd be the best lover. You can't be marked down for taste.

Well, the oldest characters are still only 16, so discussing romantic prospects with them is a mite creepy.
Except, I guess they are ghosts and time runs differently for them?
But that might make it worse, since they stay the same age at which they died, physically.

So only hit on the oldest characters in your imagination?
Not that we know who those are.

Though Hussie is clearly the sexiest.

I dunno. Them goth types can be a bit finicky. [/blatant sterotype] Plus the whole vampire thing could make the relationship a bit weird.

You forget that some of us aren't much older than that. I'm sure there are people younger than that that read homestuck.
