How do the B1 Kids survive/be unDoomed anyway? The scratch just turned out to be changing the Past and blowing everything up in the Present. I see no difference to, say, Dave acquiring a hydrogen bomb, multiplying it ten billion times via shenanigans, travelling back in time, switching the ekto kid's around and  flying off to die in a corner. Traveling into the Furthest Ring wouldn't save you if you are doomed, would it?
