I don't know, I kind of like Equius as a character, even if he is a joke character. I mean, he was STRONG and one of the most amusing characters to read about, with some of the best scenes and one of the best relationships(Nepeta <> Equius). Also Horuss, while somehow creepier at the things that made Equius creepy(albeit in an amusing way) in the first place, worked from the ground up to become some sort of sweaty steampunk otherkin troll.

Yes I agree with this.  My only issue with Equius is what he did to Aradia, otherwise his "perversion" is harmless and entertaining (except for letting Gamzee kill him and his meowrail).  His slam poetry with Dave was one of my favorite moments.  Him and Eridan CLAIM to find lowbloods detestable but they never act on it, to the point that I don't believe them.  I won't go into the reasons I like Eridan, but I do hate his worthless psychopath sleazebag ancestor.

I only enjoy Kanaya when she's talking to Porrim or Rose. Porrim is basically awesome in every way Kanaya isn't.

I like Equius and Eridan because they're jerks who didn't get some fancy "Oh, your life turns around and everything's better" conclusion. They stayed true to their characters to their deaths.

Kanaya is my favorite character in homestuck period.

It used to be Terezi but Kanaya usurped her throne and is the coolest character ever. Porrim is alright, I suppose. I like the matronly personalities the two girls have, but Kanaya seems to have more Mama Bear moments which are freaking awesome.

Nah, those fics exist. I've read a few.

People really want douches to not be douches, so they write them as repentant douches who are trying to make up for their doucheness in the past, but really, they're just misunderstood, they're not douches at all, they were going through some rough times when they were douches and now they know better, and they know they can't make up for all the doucheness they did, but they're still going to ask for forgiveness for being douches and they'll hope they'll be forgiven.

I find douches being unrepentant douches to be far more interesting.
