What if Dave Sprite decided to show up anyway, to see John and everything, and overhead this discussion?

My first instinct is that was John defensively moving the conversation away from his singleness. Now I am less certain.

I think John is at the point where he deserves a breakdown. He's gone through some serious shit over the last year and a day.

That was my thought too. John doesn't seem comfortable about his romantic situation in general, and I thought he was trying to get the topic away from that. But now you guys got me all uncertain about this, and now I'm pondering the idea of John meeting up with someone in the dreambubbles and not telling the others.

Same. Considering the shit he went through in the game (Died twice, humanity was nearly wiped out, for a while was sure either Dave or Rose would perma-die, lost his dad, etc.), I'm suprised it wasn't until two years after they left the session for him to finally snap.
