Other, sillier theories:

1) See those jpeg artifacts all over the Statues of Liberty? Those are intentional. These are from the SBaHJ universe somehow. (Or were created via SBaHJ-related alchemy somehow.)

2) Who would craft an army of Statues of Liberty? Why John, of course. Note how they're covered in slime? It's all a mammoth Ghostbusters 2 reference. (Perhaps Calliope exists in the future of the world of the GB2 MMO?!?! There's probably tons of the things in there.) I bet there's a Nintendo controller in each of these things' heads.

3) Calliope mentions whoever dwelt on the planet before had a strange sense of humor. Like a clown perhaps? Like a clown in possession of time travel artifacts who apparently had possession of a book that at some point made its way into Callipe's hands? The least important character in Homestuck may have something to do with this... (After all, didn't Juggalos deface the SoL or something in future Alpha timeline?)
