I didn't realize there was a 1-1 correlation between the midnight crew and the investigators, since there are only three investigators.  I guess Ace Dick is mirrored by both Hearts Boxcars and Clubs Deuce?

I don't think there's rules or a 1-1 correlation. Hussie's just playing it by ear, as more often then not. Later, if he likes, he will find a rule that explains his previous actions and state it.

I think there's a pretty solid correlation between the Midnight Crew and Problem Sleuth characters, with them serving as foils for one another:

Spades Slick and Problem Sleuth:
Both like knives and leadership, but PS is all about charisma and diplomacy, and SS is the farthest thing from a people person.

Diamonds Droog and Pickle Inspector:
Both are clever and have a disconcerting gaze, but while PI is silly, awkward, and irreverent, DD is cold, calculating, and very concerned with his self image.

Clubs Deuce and Ace Dick:
Both are bumbling characters oblivious to their ridiculousness, but while AD is subdued and reserved, CD is over the top and always cheerful.

Hearts Boxcars and Mobster Kingpin:
Both are big cruel bruisers, but while MK has a clever streak, HB is just a loveable head-eating mook.

I'm assuming it'll be a benevolent power, since she doesn't have much need for an area attack like Red Miles.
