What about him is off? He seems pretty much like Dave to me. Sure, its Dave if he was a thousand times more badass, but hes still the Dave we know and love.

inb4 Post Scratch Dave becomes relevent in the story later.

Indeed.

"No one ever saw him again."

Something tells me that Dave didn't die. Maybe he did some time shenanigans somehow and escape death? I mean, after all, no one did see him die.

Possibly he stayed on the board too long.

“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Still not as evil as what Gamzee did with the bodies of Tavros and Vriska.

Huh. Really? Just...
Quote from: Dirk
TT: He killed them both.
That's it? No epic hashrap battle on the roof of the White House? He just slices them in half and leaves? ...That's it? I mean, he didn't even have to show it or anything. Just... you know, mention that that was what happened, that's all.

This feeling... it's almost like... disappointment. B-but that's impossible! Homestuck can't disappoint me! There must be some other explanation! Right?!

The whole gag was a little stale, glad it wasn't stretched out further than needed. And really, the best way to take out two chucklefucks is with seriousness business.

Dave was always the more professional one.

It's basically the same principle as Scratch skipping largely past both Hero of Light vs the Sovereign Slayer battles. The bits we saw are sufficient to kindle our excitement to a degree greater than showing them explicitly ever could, and the battles themselves aren't particularly important. Just the outcome (or, in Vriska's case, just enough knowledge for Terezi to know she couldn't choose that timeline).

That's the thing though, it's fine to me that the whole thing was resolved in two pages. It's not that it didn't go into enough detail, just that the result was Dave just slicing them in half and leaving. Skipping over the Rose/Noir battle was done because Hussie didn't have time; it was going to be a flash, but he ended up just summarizing it and moving on to keep the story moving. This part of the story, on the other hand, is best told in flashback. It was the outcome I was disappointed by, not the lack of detail.

But it's not like Hussie setting up something awesome and then not doing it just for the LULZ is a new thing either.

It's a ninja guy vs two completely normal juggalo guys.

Even if it was animated I wouldn't expect it to last more than ten seconds.

Dave isn't necessarily dead? I hope there's some parallel to Dave's entry in the beta universe with alpha Dave saving Dirk's ass.
