Lord English is the matured form of Doc Scratch, who in turn is genetically spliced together from the First Guardian code, Lil' Cal and a cue ball I think? I forget how it went. And Lil' Cal is a puppet that was repaired from the puppet that landed with an Aradiabot on Alternia, brought to the troll session by Bec Noir. Bec got it from Bro, who stitched it together after it was torn apart by Dave. Bro originally got the puppet in the meteor lab where he was born, and it was flown there on a rocketboard after Dream Dave tossed it out of his Derse tower window. It was long thought that the puppet was in Dave's subconscious because he was terrified of the same puppet in the future, but it turns out to have been some kind of psychic voodoo doll left there by Gamzee, under orders from Lil' Cal further in the future, or possibly Doc Scratch (who, as it has been established, is also Lil' Cal even further in the future).

Gamzee ultimately did this in revenge for Dave linking him a video of Miracles by Insane Clown Posse. It is of some interest that this chronologically happened before ICP actually released the song in the real world. Dave received the video from Betty Crocker, who is actually the Troll Empress, who is working for Doc Scratch and Lord English.

This story has long since passed the point that you need to write stuff down to keep a handle on it.  I need that portion of my brain for important stuff.

Lord English is the matured form of Doc Scratch...

I'd gotten the impression that Scratch was more the summoning receptacle for English - his body being transmuted into LE's at the point of death. This would leave the two as separate entities, and leave LE's origin still untold.

That said, I wouldn't put it past Hussie to have made all the previous universes LE supposedly ravaged part of some insane time loop, and this is actually the only time he was ever manifested, with temporal shenanigans allowing him to travel to the troll sessions, etc. In such a situation, his emergence from Doc Scratch (as described beforehand by Scratch himself) would be accurate but stated in such a way as to make the reader assume that LE really got around more.

They disappeared when the king deactivated it and handed it to PM, and were never seen again. The rod hasn't been seen since Descend, as far as I know, but I'd wager that if Jack doesn't have it, he destroyed it. This was at a point in the story when he was referred to by narration as "the tactician", after all, so I wouldn't expect him to overlook something like that. And even if he did, DD should've caught it, and he didn't have it when Dave killed him.
