Hussie is not a shipper.

Not that he abhors it or whatever, he just doesn't do it.  Think of all the "shipping fights" in this story, what the literary world used to call a "love triangle", or even Love Quadrangles in a few cases.

Absolutely none of these are played out in the story.  Jade doesn't know Terezi exists.  Rose and Vriska have only tangentially mentioned each other, and Rose knows nothing of Vriska's infatuation with John.  Karkat and Dave giving each other shit the one time was the closest thing the story has ever had to a real "romantic conflict" other that Sollux and Eridan (and that was just for laughs and pretty clearly resolved before it started).  Hussie just doesn't write romantic conflict, so it's left to a segment of readership to do it for him.

These are interesting; I've actually posted pretty much the same thing a few gazillion pages ago but the comparisons interest me. Mainly because of the way the quadrangles work.

For the Dave et al. one, it very much seems to be each possible partner is an opposite of the other;
Compare Cool Guy Dave to Overexcited Karkat, or innocent Jade to impish Terezi.

John et al. is bugging me though, because I can't find the final link; earnest idiot hero John versus reserved, thoughtful Kanaya, sure, but what is the line between Vriska and Rose?
