I only do the Homestuck roleplaying on Bay12, over at the MSPA forums it's all Mary Sue fantrolls, all of the time.

Not really! It looks like the fantrolls over there are mostly just...normal ocs. I think you mean Deviantart or something but they're really uncommon over at MSPA. To be honest, I think you'd have better experiences with roleplaying over there.

I hate you. I hate you so much Jervous, because I went to the MSPA forums out of morbid curiosity and now I'm reading fan adventures about Eridan if he was even more pathetic, and Kanaya in lesbians with a bunch of schoolgirls, a-and... I don't even know anymore.

Are you talking about Be The Seadweller Lowblood? I'm reading that right now! I love it!

Yes, the first one I referred to is indeed BTSL

I saw you in that clusterfuck, you monster! I saw you! I thought making fantrolls was the worst it would get... but they lied. It gets worse. When you make your first fantroll, it is only the first step down an ever-winding staircase into the waiting, cavernous maw of that eldritch beast known as fandom It is only your first taste of a smorgasbord that stretches from here to over the horizon, with thousands of delicacies, some delicious beyond your reckoning, and a few so vile you wish never to recall the taste. And as you progress down this table, filling your plate and taking your pick of the choices meats, somewhere along the line you may realize the truth: that this is a never-ending dance, a waltz gone wrong, a shimmy and a slide down a path from which you cannot return. And you will despair. You will despair as you order Karkat to hook up with a human on prom night.

This may have been linked long, long ago, but isn't lined to the other videos so I will just assume it was overlooked.

First half is kinda sloppy, really dig the second half.

I've listened to so many Barkley mixes.  Why can't Tales of Games release the second chapter of the epic Barkley saga?!  It was an RPG I actually finished.

So I'm starting to understand how Hussie can churn out updates so fast. The sprite style isn't as hard to pick up as I expected, considering I haven't worked with any for months, if not years. I mean, I seriously can't remember. At any rate, it's surprisingly easy to get something decent fairly quickly, although this merely reduces the rate at which he produces art assets from "holy shit this guy clearly experiences time at a different rate than the rest of us" to "that is really impressive, there. I could not keep that pace for a week, much less years". And then there's the writing, which is a whole other ridiculous thing.

Also I now have an animated fan character. I'm beginning to suspect I'm obsessed. Slightly.

Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Don't worry, quite a few homestuck fans go through that phase.

Although the worst part is if you go through the Fantroll phase, seriously don't go through that phase.

You know I kind of want to start a suggestion game based on Problem Sleuth and the earlier MSPAs. It might be entertaining.

Maybe tomorrow? I'll have to make the sprites and rooms and stuff first though. Oh man so much work
actually no it'd be too much work

On the early pages, perhaps I understand your point. But with all the 'hero mode' and various other non-sprite pages and panels and complex backgrounds, it is still really incredibly impressive and he can really churn out some good stuff in a very short amount of time. Even simple callbacks he has said take longer to make than just scribbling out a new panel.

Although he does a good job of reusing assets to a pleasing effect. The only example that strikes me now is the shots showing Johns neighborhood being a copy-paste of a bunch of houses, and the various shots of their homes after being built up.

Okay, yeah, that's true. It's only the basic sprites that my comment is relevant to. Hero mode stuff is totally beyond my ability, and backgrounds and other large things are also going to take a lot longer.

I would love to see this analysis on Prequel, where pretty much all the sprites are impressively animated.
