 When the Jade and John convo started I was sorta worried that with all that exposition Hussie had forgotten how to make them seem like 13-year-old friends.

 No nop I was wrongidy wrong wrong. They are still excellent. Everyone is excellent.

 And I sorta noticed that Dave and Karkat sound basically the same in my mind when they try to be colorful.

The trolls had a beta, it was played by the trolls ancestors. Although back then troll society was very peaceful, almost like humans.
Because the trolls grew up in such a soft environment, they were not ready for such a hard game as Sgrub Beta, and failed hard. So they went to the Black Queen for a reset, but next time around, in Sgrub Alpha (The game we know with Karkat and crew) instead of players, the Sgrub alpha players got to be the ancestors of the new players, with no memory of the past game... Except the sufferer. Somehow The Sufferer remembered how troll society used to be and told trolls about a world with no blood caste system, and everybody was happy. He then became troll Jesus.

So yea, current trolls are Alpha trolls. They won and made Beta kids, but Beta kids fucked up big time and made an unkillable boss (Jack) who invaded the Alpha Sgrub session and fucked some shit up, causing the trolls to live in exile on a meteor, until Dave sent them a metric fuckton of money, and they started to troll the kids.

The glitch caused them to play in a session that they were not spawned (through ectobiology) in.

Also, they didn't go to the Black Queen for a reset, they went to Echidna.

Nope.  We know absolutely nothing about the original Beta Troll game, except that for whatever reason, it wound up unbeatable and had to be reset.  I have this sneaking suspicion that someday Hussie might say more about it, but I wouldn't call it likely.

And the Beta Kids (who could effectively be called Ancestors themselves, except they still exist and the reset-universe spit out new copies of them to be parents) failed because of Vriska, who wasn't exactly goaded into doing anything because of Doc Scratch, but kinda was ultimately turned into a smug bitch because of him.

...Man, all of existence is just fucked because of English.  What the heck man.

Well, if Jane is the hero of Life and Jake is the hero of heart, that leaves Lalonde and Strider as the heroes of Void and Heart. (Or Heart and Void.)
