Here's the thing about dead daves piling up though - if he dies, gets resurrected, can he go back in time and tell himself to bail on the fight? Or at least give himself continual advice on how to avoid it? Hell, he's already done that once, right?
Think about it this way, though-- while he does have the ability to go back and tell Daves what to do/avoid, he can't do that all the time. He doesn't have all the time in the world.
Quote
EB: i guess since you've lived three days in one day, you've just been hassled that much more?
Quote
EB: so what is the future like?
EB: or uh, the 3x future...
EB: do we win???
Then there's the fact that there are presumably infinite Daves at different points in time to warn not to do shit that could hinder progress in whatever.
Not to mention all the stress and possible self-doubt/loathing and identity crisis (maybe?) this endless cycle of warning yourself not to do stuff would cause, even though I just mentioned it. I would go crazy if I had the responsibility of perfectly managing time(lines) and not messing up, ever, lest I risk the very real consequence of messing up the universe (this word used loosely as words like "universe" are hard to define in HS) as I know it.
Then, the Dave that's warning the others might screw up somehow, even a little bit, and then the Dave that warns him...actually, I'm not even gonna get into the paradox stuff because paradox stuff.

Except that it's not that complicated, the universe has it's own built-in failsafe to prevent infinitely recurring paradox selves from traveling back to warn earlier iterations of themselves, and that's the choice gambit. While there may definitely be an infinite number of dead timelines wherein Dave would go back to warn himself of the future dangers to come, this would somehow forbid the good Doc's death, and so would spin off into an alternate timeline that dies, while the alpha remains the one where he decides to not go back and instigate time shenanigans.

I think it's a really neat way of saying "because destiny".

Since something happened to someone I forbade myself from talking about, I'mma go sob softly into the likeness of my patron troll instead.

:[

So apparently there's this thing going around called Nosestuck. I have no clue what it entails but here:

My reaction: Oh that's neat. Terezi and Aradia look as adorable as ever... GOOD GOG FEF WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE

Well, obviously nose stuck is putting noses on homestuck characters, since only Dad has a nose. And naturally, it moves the entire artwork up a few ticks on the realism scale.

Maybe if the hairline was pulled forward, and if the lips were... I don't know how to put into words how I would change the lips, but:

These are great side face references. Also, I have a suspicion that this was drawn using MS Paint's brush tool, as that's the tool I used in the edit and it's hard to tell the difference between which is the original and which isn't.
If that's true, then kudos to the artist. You can't erase if you use the brush tool, you can only color over the edges and try again. And again. And yet again.

I mean, they look great, except for the hole in her nose. It is a hole, right? Because that's what I see every time I look at it but I would like to be completely wrong. I mean, why would you do that to the poor girl, and why not do Eridan's the same way? Confusion :u

It's an outline of the edge of her nostril.

I know it doesn't look it, but it's the shape of the nostrils flare. OBVIOUSLY.

Oh no...  that was not what I wanted to see when I checked for updates tonight.  I guess I'm just going to have to accept that she's dead for real now, and just enjoy the story without her, like I did before she showed up.  Shouldn't be too hard, looks like something impressive is about to go down.  And I wonder what Doc's planning with that ~ath book.  Probably just a vicious beating.

I'll avoid talking about her more since I was late, and a lot of what I'd probably say has already been said(I'm just glad I liked her from the beginning).  I will add that while this isn't the outcome I wanted, it wasn't entirely unexpected.

I guess that means I need to shut up now, because I'm obsessing on it.  I want to talk about the kids, since what's going on is really exciting, but I have a feeling we'll find out what happens with Rose and with Dave and Jade soon enough.  I'm really excited about this, and the loss of one of many favorite characters won't deter me.

So, uh... did Vriska die on a technicality, because Slick smashed the time artifact that would have resurrected her? Because I seriously find that pretty sad. :/

Also I still don't believe that she's dead for real, on account of time shenanigans and denial.

Hussie has succumbed to the siren's song of schadenfreude... he continues in the Sadist's Revelry that is the purview of the professional troll, watching his audience squirm as he torments the characters we've come to know and/or love. Each time he lets us watch them climb one flight of stairs, he pushes them down two more, until our voices all wail in turn an unbroken chorus of "IT KEEPS HAPPENING"s.

Doesn't it just break your little butterfly heart? :D

It's pretty tempting to just unsubscribe to the RSS feed and just check back in a month, in case something worthwhile happens.

That could be an interesting experiment. Not one I could pull off, certainly, but interesting. Hussie's mentioned several times that the story will read differently if read from the archives without stopping to wait a day every five panels or so, and I think there's basically no way that isn't true. Like the whole doomed timeline sequence with Vriska fighting Jack and Terezi and Karkat dying. Watching it as it happened made it stretch well over a week, with lots of time to speculate over what's going on. Reading it afterwards, the suspend will last for the five minutes it takes for you to read it. I should really archive crawl through this thing one of these days.

Formspring was updated at some point, Hussie deals with whether she was killed by Slick or not. He doesn't give a definite answer either way, but he does address the issue.

As for Nosestuck, it actually makes Equius look vaguely scholarly. To me, at least.

I've been listening to this almost completely unrelated song repeatedly for the past week or so.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EX11Xi4pak

I found it by chance mostly, somehow ending up on somebody's Tumblr looking at her homestuck sketches and this song was linked just because.  I pretty much love it, and the only other person I specifically told to listen to it said it reminded him of MSPA, specifically Problem Sleuth.  Now though, it reminds me of Vriska, and I've gone from loving it to still loving it, but maybe even more.  Although it's kind of the male voice as Vriska, which is weird.

Oh, and her death was definitely Just.  Hussie was kind of a jerk by having the clock get hit before it stopped, but it probably would have anyway.  Even without everything she'd done before, Terezi saved herself and Karkat at the very least by killing her.  And Terezi knew exactly what would happen if she let Vriska escape, so killing her was right and just.  Looks like getting stabbed like a sucker can still kill you after all.  Or you can actually take into account all her crimes before if you don't like the idea of somebody being punished for something they're about to do.  But I like the idea that a death that saves other lives is a Just death.
