Frankly, I expected that "death" to linger for months. Now I'm just confused.

Hussnasty accompished.  He wants your confusion, he wants your hate.  He wants your black romance.

<rant>

It's not so much hate as disappointment. Starting from the disc scratch this whole Doc Scratch interlude just seems disjointed and silly. Things have gone from semi-coherent plot following characters I at least had some vested interest in... to a running reference to the last interlude made of ... yeah no idea what the felt were even supposed to be. Oh and Rose died. But not really (maybe) lol! And Karkat and Terezi died!.... Except they didn't really! But they might! Now Vriska's dead! But not really oh yeah really, you should care this time, not like the other fake-outs. Serious face.

</rant>

It's pretty tempting to just unsubscribe to the RSS feed and just check back in a month, in case something worthwhile happens.

Whenever these story analytical discussions come up, I usually never add anything to it other than the time I spend reading it all. That's still partially true at this moment (comparing it to all the pages of text contributed so far), but for what it's worth, I just wanted to interject that I think Jade dying could go either way simply because that's the opposite of what's to be expected. Sure, he was a still bloodlustful monster back when he failed to show her his stabs, but we all know that Hussie has a way of twisting things around and making it work, even if we don't actually understand said work-making.
I'm just gonna stick with the idea that his Bec side will override the other, in a wishful thinking sort of a way.

As for Dave, yeah, dead Daves abound so it could just as easily be a "who cares, time shenanigans" death.

Top the page - Jade with an evening dress and assault rifle, Dave with a ruby sword with Kermit's face, about to fight the pile of weird shit that is Jack Noir.

Bottom of the page - An alien girl wearing butterfly wings and an awesome hoodie dying a bloody death, superimposed over Nicolas Cage's smiling face.

In between - Even atrocious candy bowl etiquette. - in big bold letters.

I love this comic.

From this moment on, if anyone asks what Homestuck is, I will link them to either that page or the Fruity Rumpus Asshole Factory.

This being Homestuck, I'm not sure whether that's post-scratch Rose or Vriska with a wig.

This is a clever ruse, enacted by the Hussnasty in a foolhardy attempt fool people like me, who stolidly hang onto their denial at the cost of reason and personal well-being.

This is where future doomed timeline Vriska pops in, and everything is better again.

Here's the thing about dead daves piling up though - if he dies, gets resurrected, can he go back in time and tell himself to bail on the fight? Or at least give himself continual advice on how to avoid it? Hell, he's already done that once, right?

I'm counting on him having a surviving dreamself until after the merge because I REALLY want to see god-tier dave...

Although, it HAS been said there's more than one way to become god-tier, right?

Think about it this way, though-- while he does have the ability to go back and tell Daves what to do/avoid, he can't do that all the time. He doesn't have all the time in the world.

EB: i guess since you've lived three days in one day, you've just been hassled that much more?
Quote
EB: so what is the future like?
EB: or uh, the 3x future...
EB: do we win???
Then there's the fact that there are presumably infinite Daves at different points in time to warn not to do shit that could hinder progress in whatever.
Not to mention all the stress and possible self-doubt/loathing and identity crisis (maybe?) this endless cycle of warning yourself not to do stuff would cause, even though I just mentioned it. I would go crazy if I had the responsibility of perfectly managing time(lines) and not messing up, ever, lest I risk the very real consequence of messing up the universe (this word used loosely as words like "universe" are hard to define in HS) as I know it.
Then, the Dave that's warning the others might screw up somehow, even a little bit, and then the Dave that warns him...actually, I'm not even gonna get into the paradox stuff because paradox stuff.
