I think Vriska was trying to relive some twisted love story by trying to get Tavros to kill her.

Some of its that.  Some of its genuinely feeling sorry for him, being such a pathetic lump.  (The irony that Taurancestor was basically responsible for their Lord of the Flies society was almost certainly lost on her.)  If nothing else, she wanted Tavros to be man (troll) of her (ancestor's) (wet) dreams, and was trying to beef him up.  Yet another tidbit we can chalk up to the past not being prologue.  Probably.

Likewise kinda stacks up to the ancient Empress apparently being a supreme bitch with no great tolerance for people trying to upset the social order, in a straight reversal if indeed said Empress was Piscencestor (this is fun).  But more's the pity that we probably won't get to see Cancestor (I'm on a roll) in all his Sparticus glory.

Interesting tidbit that, along with all their other traits, apparently the higher the blood color, the longer the lifespan.  And that the Heir of Void just might have an import role left to play, despite being a joke character.

So, the Trolls are fated to live out little pantomimes of their ancestor's lives, right? I wonder if Vriska killed Tavros because she sought to escape the whole "he is fated to kill me" thing as hinted at in her ancestor's journal, and with that whether or not Tavros will somehow still hit god tier (and suddenly get said wings), and take his vengeance on Vriska.

 I think the idea is that the trolls are not going to do the same as their ancestors. Whether you take it with Mindfang and Vriska seeing their destinies and trying to change it or the trolls deviating from their planned fates, most of what you see going on in the past is not a reflection of the trolls.

 Except for Vriska/Mindfang being a lucky fuck who never pays for what she does and is somehow still accepted by their peers.

Without the game, perhaps they WOULD have grown up to mirror their ancestors lives - but as of now, there are only parallels and similar potentials rather then any sort of direct mirroring.
