. . . Of course, I am suddenly remembering what "near the end" meant for Problem Sleuth, so I may be completely wrong about this.
Hussie has said that there will be 7 acts total, and acts 6 and 7 will not be as insanely long as this one.
I want it to go on forever.  That would probably be a bad idea, though, so I'll just sit here and do a little rereading...

Of course, Hussie also said and originally planned that Act 5 would be like four, six months tops.  It's been ten and still hasn't really ended, so take that as you will.

But yeah, after more than two years of obsessively following this story, it's going to be a little hard to swallow when we all wake up one day and find out, oh, hey, it's over.  The story's done.

I wonder what effect it will have on the veritably industrial-scale fanwork generator...

I'll be even worse if you started reading before PS.

I've gone through a ton of stories and you know what I found out?  They always end.  It's gonna be okay Aqizzar we'll just move on to bigger and better things.  Like that Dr. Psychologist guy.

Yeah, I'll probably be really bummed when it's over with.  It just seems like that sort of thing.

As for the fanwork generator... hahaha.  Those guys go from fandom to fandom.  I heard, oddly enough, that a lot of the Hetalia dudes basically have jumped ship for Homestuck and The Hunger Games recently (whatever those are).  So whenever Homestuck ends, I expect there to be some milling around, then a lot of jumping into whatever the Next Big Thing is.  The folks who do comics seem to be pretty well-separated from those who do TV and book fanworks.

If he does something new, I'd expect a lot of folks to leave because it "just isn't as good" or whatever, some to stay, and in the end there will probably be a big splinter followed by a slow redevelopment of the fanbase for whatever the new thing is.

Some people, probably me for a couple weeks, said the same thing about Homestuck.  I mean, what could you follow Problem Sleuth with?  Some kid futzing around in his bedroom for a month?  Please.

But what could follow Homestuck?  Kinda set the bar a little high with this one.

You know, I actually have faith that he'll be able to do it somehow.  Especially if he manages to get his narrative slightly less... tangled.  It's possible to make big reveals without going for Ultimate Complexity and Narrative Incomprehensibility =/

Yeah, I expect whatever Hussie to do next will start a lot like this comic. After archive-binging Problem Sleuth and seeing all the awesomeness without the months long wait for the cord to get anywhere being reverted to a dorky kid in a room with a bunch of chatlogs I don't care for and game mechanics I don't understand and really care about it was kind of a disappointment.

Homestuck only really took an active interest for me when we switched to Rose and things started to get a bit more complex. The major elements started to show up and the characters were being fleshed out in person, not in chat boxes.

Whatever Hussie does next it'll take at least four or five months before it starts to get as interesting as Homestuck was at around act 2. The fandom will go into a catatonic coma for the entire period.

Maybe we'll see the end of the art style that's carried over ever since Jailbreak -you know, like the 'sprite versions' of the characters in homestuck- and he'll actually draw stuff properly, like he's been doing more and more of recently.

All bets are off on the subject matter though. But to be honest... I'd say that's happening first quarter 2012 EARLIEST.

I.E. like the actual print comics Hussie makes and gets paid money for?  Possibly.

Whatever Hussie does next it'll take at least four or five months before it starts to get as interesting as Homestuck was at around act 2. The fandom will go into a catatonic coma for the entire period.

They'll be back though.  He found his bait this time.  Shippan'.

Beyond that being what I loved most about Problem Sleuth and then Homestuck, that's obviously what Hussie likes writing.  A story with a billion interlocking parts, doled out an effective sentence or so a day.  I have gotten a little annoyed with Homestuck when he starts jumping around in time so you can't follow what's happening, because it's not clear what happened when, but that's what makes the informative revelations so much fun.

So usually I would wait before linking to something like this, just in case it dies early. And I did wait. It looks like this one is going to keep going, even if it is disrupted by the artist's class times.

This is Prequel, an MSPA by Kazerad, one whose depictions of a crippled Tavros contributed to making it canon. Prepare for the tugging of heartstrings.

To be honest, though, I think a lot of the charm is the changing artstyle and the multimedia stuff.  I think I enjoy it more as a comic [whether sprite, fully-proportional, other-sprite, or what-have-you]/novel/piece of music/video game/really really shitty comic/movie than I would with any of that excluded.  I think that really, one of the greatest evolutions in his art style from PS to Homestuck was the increase in forms.

I.E. like the actual print comics Hussie makes and gets paid money for?  Possibly.

... What, he's a professional cartoonist?  I never knew.

I like the billion interlocking parts, and I liked the crazy revelations, and I adore the off-the-wall moments when I just wind up cussing out my computer screen because I can't do anything else.

I'm talking about things like the final battle of PS, where I ended up feeling like it was just a bit too much and I was reading some religion's endlessly convoluted scripture... and frankly, I still don't have any idea as to what's happening with Homestuck, stable time loops or otherwise.  What happens when?  Fuck if I know.  I felt like that worked really well for PS, but at this point all I understand is a vague dead count, a series of jokes I enjoyed, and something about time going backwards and forwards.  I mean... yeah, it's brilliant, and yeah, the stuff coming out of nowhere is great.

The issue, I guess, is that I read PS for the "what the fuck is happening" and Homestuck has characters to whom I am somewhat more attached.  PS is sort of... Dragonbally, in that you never know who's going to be dead and who isn't.  There's no real death.  There's just reference after reference and a bunch of weird things with windows and hiding in forts.  I read it, and went "Okay, why not?  This is cool."

But somehow, I feel that with this plot there's somewhat more expectation that we understand what's actually going on, or rather that we understand how much information we possess.  Recaps and stuff, that just muddy the waters further... and I guess I don't quite know what to do with all of it.  It's danged confusing.

Ooh, thanks.  Taking a look.

Hussie's stories will only get better, longer, and more convoluted with each adventure, culminating in a decade long masterpiece to rival all other great works before it. But no one will be able to make heads or tails of what's going on, and we'll have entire shipping walls the size of the great wall of China each.

But chances are Hussie has absolutely no idea what he'll do next and he's just dragging this out as long as he can until he can think up something to top Homestuck. Yeah, I'm going with that.
