I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

And somewhere a young artist woman let out a giddy squeal for no apparent reason she would be aware of 'till she checks the comic.
Wait, no, I don't think SkepticArcher actually shipped this. Nevermind that.

This does play into the theory of Kanaya being over Vriska forever. Just as Vriska developed something Kanaya wanted presumably for years Kanaya realizes that it just isn't worth it.

And this update is new and all, but I would imagine the MSPA forums would have shipped them due to this event by now.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I am highly approving of Vriska's sudden sweaty deathlust for Kanaya.

I mean really, nobody even heard of "SkepticArcher" until Hivebent.  I don't think I've seen her draw anything but trolls, and Snowman by request.

But yeah, Vriska finally falls in love with Kanaya, although exactly why raises some questions.  I mean, just a few days ago we (I) were writing textbooks about how Vriska's not really the murderous bluh bluh at heart that she acts like.  But now she's fawning in very small text for an old friend, who she just got her clock cleaned by and is covered in and further decorating herself with blood.  Is it the raw murderous power on display?  Is it for "saving" her life even though Vriska probably thought she had everything in hand?  Is it the flagrant charisma?

It'll all be for naught of course.  Brutally humorous unrequited romantic confusion is half the comic's plot.

Clearly it's because kanaya is giving vriska the punch she thinks she deserves for being an enormous pansy.

No. I will not fall for this "new" Kanaya. She killed Eridan before he had a chance to reach across the pathetic threshold to grab a frothy mug of badass, and I will continue to hate her for it, Equius glasses or no.

Vriska has admitted that she values strength. She likes John because John does his best to get stronger, and he listens (for better or worse) to her advice, something which she specifically couldn't stand Tavros not doing. Obviously, she doesn't go for Equius, although that may be because he is higher on the Hemospectrum and thus, with his craziness concerning said spectrum, he would not be interested in pursuing a relationship. And also probably because Equius is fucking creepy.

Vriska never noticed Kanaya because she was busy trying to make Tavros stronger so that she could pursue any sort of mating relationship with him. When he finally showed a little backbone, she was so exasperated with him that she just killed him. Then Kanaya, who was pretty freaking obvious about wanting more than a Moiraility with Vriska, shows up, kicks ass, takes names, and tells them all to Deal With It.

And Vriska realizes that there is finally a worthy person for her to <3.
