What a waste of a death.  Calling Equius a gag character is bullshit, the consorts are gag characters.  Casey and Mutie are gag characters.  Equius was a successful SBURB player with significant impact on the story and relationships with most of the other characters.  Dammit I have bl00 balls over this anticlimax.

I may be way too invested in this comic.  I liked Equius a lot.

Equius is a gag character.  He gets off on being ordered around and his taste in art is a reference to Hussie's blog.  He's a joke.

Gamzee killed Equius so people would stop talking about him, and by extension, stop calling him Equitus.

His death was hilarious! We see some hands-on subjugglating, and Nepeta gets a chance to slash Gamzee across the face hopefully. Honestly, Feferi's death was the only one that seemed anything like a waste to me.

DEAD is a physical object in the world.

Also, did anyone else notice that the people who are really emotionally involved in the comic are also really meta about it?  It's never "Why would Gamzee do that?" it's "Why would Hussie do that?"

I'm a bit upset/dissapointed by the latest trend in culling as many characters as possible, especially with the added knifetwist of pointedly giving them an increased dose of character depth shortly before their deaths. I can see how that could be meant to make us feel for their loss, which it seems to be succeeding at, and a tragic plot will naturally have tragic turns of events, but I admit that isn't what I hopped aboard the S.S. Paint Adventure expecting.

I just hope it's not a thinly-veiled attempt to correct a mistake in writing that many characters in in the first place, and that Hussie is actually going somewhere with this.

See, here's what I'm not getting.  What happens at the end of the story.

Yeah, we're breeding frogs and we're going to start a new universe.  There's implications that the humans are supposed to pair up and repopulate, but honestly that seems pretty ridiculous from where I'm sitting.  Is it just, raise frogs -> bad guys attack -> repel bad guys -> new universe -> roll credits?  That doesn't even explain what's going on with the trolls at all.  Surely they need to have a hand in the upcoming events and right now there's no room for that at all.

I really do think we're getting them back at the end of the story, even if it's just something like the end of Problem Sleuth, where there was this Greek heaven place.  Heck, even if they don't impact the plot any more, I still don't believe that we won't see them again.  Would Hussie just close the curtains over the miniscule number of remaining cast characters at the end and call it a night?  Eh, don't answer that.

...Man.  Who's going to be in the third universe?  We have NO information to guess from there.  An entire third race, trolls->humans->something else?  An empty world that humans and trolls and even dream-world people will all move in to inhabit, possibly including people who get revived after the story's climax?

Or I guess if you really wanted to get ridiculous, a total failure along with "The future refused to change...", then the most epic flash ever that lets you start over, replay all the scenes that went horribly wrong, and fix them.
