Nepeta is looking a bit frightened there, and she's not wearing her hat. Something is up.

Maybe the image is from the end of the conversation, and Nepeta is in shock at Terezi's (and others') death? Equius' computer seems to be his glasses, and the iShades have a text-to-speech thingy (TG: MY GLASSES ARE TALKING TO ME MY GLASSES ARE TALKING TO ME), so his probably does too, which means she probably overheard the whole thing.

That's a reasonable explanation.

But Karkat's survival horror doesn't operate on reason any more. I'm going to continue worrying incessantly and take anything out of the ordinary as evidence of things gone incredibly wrong. Like Nepeta's hat. WHERE IS IT? WHERE IS IT? SHE'S GOING TO DIE! I KNOW IT!

Doesn't Nepeta take her hat off when she's worried? I thought I'd seen her holding it before.
Maybe not.

And, yes. I'd say this comic has certainly lost it's light-hearted edge!

Equius, you are amazing.
You may possibly be my favorite troll.
And that's all there is to say on the matter.

You know what? I think Nepeta is going to survive. Hussie has been doing everything in his power to make us concerned for Nepeta, and has outright stated that she is expendable and we don't have any idea of what he plans to do. And that's why I think she'll make it. He'll bring a big buildup to her obvious death, and then....nothing. Somehow, that would be trolling us all the harder than just killing her.

Don't forget, Hussie has already used the "Nepeta is expendable" bit - her dreamself got TORSO STAB x3 COMBOed by Jack.

Your not the only one.

and oh  man. Good to see Equius. I never thought I'd say that, but man is it good to see him.

And Nepeta is still alive!

What are you talking about?  They're being chased around by a murderous honking juggalo and a hipster wizard of science.  Karkat knocked Sollux's teeth out and just put them back in like no one would know the difference.  If anything the comic is more lighthearted.

In his defense, the thought of someone like Gamzee is probably why some people fear clowns.

Earlier, it was even more lighthearted and didn't have any SRS BSNSS other than Dad's. Remember the apple juice? Remember Vaulthalla? Earlier, it was more like pre-final boss PS.

I really don't see how anyone could hate Equius. :(

He can't stop being a perverted, masochistic, class-conscious douchenozzle for five seconds, when told multiple murderers are on the loose and only he can stop them?  Okay, so he finally grasped the gravity of the situation when he found out exactly who had been murdered, that scores some points.

But I'm more distracted by the mental image of Karkat slowly twirling off into endless twightlight, screaming into space like a big angry satellite.

I am so immensely psyched for Equius. He is so great. And manly. And STRONG.

...I need to get my towel.
