And like in Descend with Jade sacrificing herself to save John, knowing Jadesprite will come and that Jade did it because she knew she would die and be stuffed one day didn't really make the whole scene any less powerful to me. The core element, the thing that made that scene great to me was the same thing that makes me love all the kids, especially John and Karkat. They are good friends. And not even in the sense of their relationships being good, they are people whose attitude and determination is set on seeing their friends survive. Even Terezi, with her stone-cold ways and playing around with Tavroses body is showing that aspect. This is probably also why I hate Vriska so much, but I won't dig deeper here.

Power of Friendship be everywhere in this motherfucker.  But you've given me an idea.  Like basically everything else she's ever done, Vriska is acting out again, like the spoiled child she is.  She killed Tavros because she knows what great friends she has.  She believes they'll find a way to make everything right and clean up her mess, just like they always have before.  She may not even totally understand it.  Not to mention, she's been sitting next to Kanaya this whole time, watching her chat up a storm with Rose, wondering why they've spoken so little in weeks.  And probably without even realizing it, she misses being fussed at.  So, well...

I could be totally wrong here, but there's actually a pretty limited number of themes and motives running under the hood of this stretch-limo of a plot.  And friendship is the biggest one.  It just has to be filtered through Vriska's seven-locus lens of self-important bitchery.
