Thank you for translations.  I'm sure you copied it from someone else.

The same place Hussie gets it from.  Probably.

I love that he's finally honed his "pissing on my readers makes them love me more" sense, to the point of making portentous updates that cannot be read without technical assistance.

Do the exiles have dreamselves or something?

It could just be a plain old dream...

RE: Homestuck: The Animated Series

Pesterlogs could work if the voice actors narrated it and the show showed what was going on during the chat.

IE, Karkat rage, stuff like that.

It'd be no worse than anime where it's ALL TALKING.

WHAT A DARING DREAM

TO COMBINE THE FINEST QUALITIES OF HUMANITY WITH THE ELEGANCE AND NOBILITY OF THE ANIMAL KINGDOM

HOW YOU WISH YOU COULD KNOW THEIR WORLD

TO HEAR ONE NIGHT THOSE MUTED PAWPADS TRAIPSE UP YOUR STAIRS

Oh dude... callback to Jade's innocent daydreams, suddenly made nefarious and creepy as fuck.

Even just looking at the first panel, you know WV's having a creepy dream, because Prospit's moon is falling and breaking apart.

I do enjoy that subtle detail.

It would still get bad ratings because noone wants to watch a show where almost half the content is text with narration. It's the same reason why crime dramas bullshit all the computer stuff. People will get bored if they have to watch scrolling text on a screen for more than 10 seconds at a time.

The best someone could do to avoid alienating the majority of potential viewers would be to replace pesterchum with another communications system, say phones or VoIP, and rewrite all the jokes that depend on typing quirks.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Wow, this is a nice piece of art.  Anyone know who made it?

She calls herself aeromachia on deviantArt.

If you made an animated series of Homestuck, you'd probably want to play to the strengths of the medium and cut most of the pesterchum conversations and memos. Insert the information conveyed in them into regular dialogue, spread more evenly. And have the kids travel together so you CAN have regular dialogue. Actually, I think Andrew said something about that in Formspring ages ago. How mediums are different and how something that works in a webcomic doesn't necessarily work in film and vice versa.

Also, I translated the morse code myself. Fifteen minutes well spent. 8)

I'd link to a good example here, but SOMEONE had to take down all his Homestuck videos.
It was this page, dubbed. Quite well done, too.

It's... so beautiful...

And as usual, a good amount of ambiguity on who is actually saying this. I'm holding out that this is Serenity in his dream talking to him, not his own subconscious talking to him. Makes a bit more sense that way.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

I'd say that, finally, for once, this is a normal dream.
You say that, up until the point that Furry-Jack Noir kills someone and they stay dead.
Then who's the dreamer?

I have a thought: you say it's Jack Noir but I see neither a puppet nor sunglasses. Who's to say this isn't WV wearing the ring? It would also fit in  Serenity's narration about being called away or whatever by the wolf monster, since it parallels Jade's dream to be a furry.

This being Homestuck, I'm not sure whether that's post-scratch Rose or Vriska with a wig.

Daim! You have quite a valid point there.
I didn't think of that...
Well, there goes my idea.
