Regarding Dave's suit, go back and check the LOHACSE updates.  The black Four Aces Suited is Iteration-1 Dave, who dealt with Rose I guess, Felt Suit is Iteration-2 Dave who's going to be seen doing something, and Broken Record T-Shirt is Iteration-3 Dave, who's servering Jade.  He's been running around a lot for three days, probably changing his clothes so all the Daves can keep each other straight as they interact.

This comic has inconsistent dreamself mechanics.

I guess Jack knew that John could live on via dreamself, and tried to use his power to transfer the injury to John's dreamself to permanently off John. But the quest bed prevented that somehow. Or something. I have no fucking clue what happened, but it was awesome.

It's all rather confusing. So far, it's seemed that the dreamself will only sustain the injuries of the realself if the individual in question is alright with it (Terezi's blindness), but not if they desire to not be injured (Vriska's arm and eye). The only thing I can think of with John is that Jack is now powerful enough to hurt the dreamself through the realself.
