In the MSPA forums, they're divided about half-and-half on blaming Vriska or thinking she was completely justified in everything she has done so far. It's kind of creepy, actually.

Myself, I still hold that Vriska is both evil and totally badass. And that it was pretty obvious that she was going to kill John eventually.

There is the distinct possibility that she thinks she's doing John a favour, and that he has to die to assume his role blah blah blah like she did. Or that she made his sudden-but-inevitable death painless because he was already his dreamself, rather than a painful struggle and slowly bleeding out. Or both.

Or she's just batshit crazy, because hey. Vriska.

It's worth noting that all of the kids except Jade can apparently fight Uranium Imps without issue, so Jack may not be as invunerable to them. Bro wasn't playing Sburb, though. He was just a normal paradox guy who was absolutely awesome, which is not enough to fight a First Guardian's power.

She was trying to fight the imp before she scaled a single rung on her echeladder. The others, however, have done plently of echladder scaling.
