Doc Scratch is not truly omniscient, mind you, even with the code boost. It is worth keeping in mind that he is only nearly omniscient, and that he himself has commented on the gaps in his admittedly vast wealth of knowledge.

Don't forget that Doc Scratch has said that his near omniscience can basically be interpreted as omniscience since he is able to know what things he does not know, and therefore knows them.

Anyway! I suddenly have a reason to like Eridan. FINALLY. I've liked his potential in the past, but didn't have a reason to actually totally like his character. This did it for me. He's one of The Awesome now.
