It's a comic about mildly insane, socially maladjusted children whose only social contact is instant-messaging.  Why do you think we all like it so much?

 It's about said children of instant messaging going on an epic quest through a game where the stakes are either death of everyone in your civilization and reality forever or creating a new universe. It could only be a better fantasy if whatever fantasy characters you loved were somehow game constructs.
