I just realized that Maplehoof is the one exception to the rule that things without faces cannot be ordered around. The Guardians all have no facial features, and neither does Mr. Vanilla Milkshake, and you cannot give them orders. Maplehoof also lacks features, but can be ordered around. COINCIDENCE? IN HOMESTUCK? IT IS FOR LAUGHING.

Obviously this will be a massive plot point later.

I can't help but think he's been aware of this from the start, and cackles every time someone points it out to him.

I'm starting to wonder more about Vriska's shirt.  Does she only have the one shirt?  Has she been wearing the same shirt since her arm was blown off?  Certainly it's the same shirt since they entered the Medium - they're probably all wearing the last clothes they left Alternia with.

I only bring this up because it actually has the potential to be a minor plot point of joke.  Remember, she's being romantically stalked by a tailor.
