They need forget or ignore nothing. Heart is pity-fueled romance, Spade is hate-fueled romance, as defined in the exposition so many people hated but now gives us clear definitions.

I also just realized why Karkat hates John so very much for seemingly no reason. If Universe Blue and Earth were to be the troll's then Karkat is watching some pink monkey live it up on their paradise while he's trapped on a dead rock in quite literally the middle of nowhere.
