Yeah, what Jim said. The larvae hatch from eggs, climb to a cozy location and pupate into these little gray monkeys. Then they undergo trials in the caverns. Except Tavros, of course. He hitched a ride on a drone, bypassing all the dangerous things, and spun his cocoon right next to the exit, where he was found by Tinkerbull. Or at least that's what Vriska theorizes based on his weakness.

Not saying that Tarn Adams would be on the MSPA wiki though.
