What about Spades Slick's highly unfavorable timeline? The price he paid to get into that vault were the lives of the rest of the Midnight Crew. Sollux blowing up Clubs Deuce has to be part of that.

Thanks to that link and some futzing around, I remembered something that is now very important.

John got bossed around by WV and by PM.  (Links one page back, because they're huge flash files.)  Obviously, a player is not limited to being manipulated by just one exile.  Now I'm just wondering if being bossed around by exiles is part of Sburbs's design; since the exiles are only there because Skaia's planets are annihilated and the Earth is trashed, the players getting trans-linear advice relies on them kinda blowing the game in the first place.

Don't feel pressured.  I sure as fuck wouldn't want to run it.  At the very least, you'd have to be able to think up all kinds of item combinations (you don't want to leave that to the players, or you'll get crazy shit from turn 1) and transparently ridiculous game legend stuff.  Doing it with trolls would also require memorizing all the shit about trolls and clamping down on stupidly overpowered mutants and the uses thereof.

 I've already thought up ways of breaking the game with just the alchemiting machines. Go through with this and you'll have to keep up with the crazy shenanigans we'll cause.

The most important rule to remember is that Sburb really is a game, but it's a game with rules, and could very well be considered self-aware to some extent.  That means, as a GM running a pretend Sburb session, you have have full power and authority to take any attempt at breaking the game with alchemizing and turn it into complete bullshit or some unexpected lateral hindrance.

The game will be played the way it wants to be played, and as we've seen in the comics, there's a lot of ways you can go off the rails, but they pretty much all lead to disaster.  Finding another way out may be the real point of the story, but the game doesn't want to make it easy.

Also, even if you have a perfectly good alchemical design, that doesn't mean you can afford to make it.

Alchemy requires grist, after all.
