It's like Shipsylvania up in this hizzouse. The author even goes into this bizarre-ass diatribe for exactly how troll romance works.

Goddamn, why'd the story spiral off into Troll-Town? I just want to know if Jade is alright, or if dying in you're dream means dying for real.

We've gone over this.  If there's one thing to learn from the Troll arc, it's that the greatest troll is Hussie himself.  Why is he going to all this trouble with blatantly stringing out this incomprehensible romantic bullshit?  To fuck with you, because it's funny watching every chunk of his fanbase flip its shit for different reasons with every update.

Haha. I think Aqizzar, your overstating it a bit much. I think he's just having fun doing something silly, instead of all the seriousness of homestuck. He also knows the arc is probably reaching an end, and wants to wring out as much silliness and pointlessness as he can, before he dives into the plot again.

I actually am really enjoying the troll arc. It's awesome, and gives us insight as to why the trolls are all monstorous douchemonsters to the kids. The fact they have red blood- for one.

It's an emotional rollercoaster, which is always fun. Anyway, the only one of the four who's actually had any success trolling them is Terezi. Kanaya and Tavros seem to be more intent on helping out a little, and Karkat is too much like John to have any real effect whatsoever.

I'm sure Hussie is enjoying how weird the writing lets him be.  The silliness is entertaining in its own right; I don't think any "insights" into the Trolls are actually "important" in any real sense, they're just fun to watch in action and play with.

So far, the only part of Homestuck I haven't really enjoyed was the middle-ish of Act 4, when it just got too plodding and disjointed without much payoff in either action or plot.  The Troll Arc is certainly disjointed and occasionally plodding (mostly just because of Hussie's weird schedules), but he's mastered his trick of stringing along some bullshit plot-point exactly long enough to make some bizarre gag or action sequence all the more satisfying when it shows up.
