We initially knew there were 12 because Jade told John that 12 had contacted her - however Hussie hadn't planned on expanding the trolls' roles so much at the time, so as not all of them would have wanted to troll her he may be looking to retcon that.

The kids have been trolled by cG, gC, aT and gA. Sollux was also seen. Nepeta and Vriska have made appearances half outside panel. Also, everybody's dream selves are dead. And the kids have all the trolls in their trollslums, which implies that they have been contacted by them all at some point.

My guess is that they all survive. 'Cept for the dream trolls. They're doomed.
